Jennie Rupp is currently a resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan, after having graduated with her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan in May of 2026. Most recently, she had the pleasure of singing the title role in Puccini's Suor Angelica with Prague Summer Nights. She will be traveling around the Southeast Michigan area with Motor City Lyric Opera's outreach program this fall singing the role of Mother in the opera Be Beautiful (M. Lynch) for elementary school students. In the winter of 2027, she will be singing the role of Judith in Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle.
At the University of Michigan, she performed in the premieres of three new works, singing the roles of Lady Macbeth in Working for the Macbeths (Navarro/Yi), Rachel in The House on Mango Street (Bermel/Cisneros), and Gotama in Siddhartha, She (Theofanidis/Studdard). She also had the pleasure of singing the role of Miss Jessel in Britten's Turn of the Screw. She was able to study under the sopranos Caitlin Lynch, Amanda Majeski, and Christine Goerke in her master's degree.
An avid performer of new works, she has performed with OK City Opera as the title role in Yildiz (Vanhooser) and The Reporter in Nicer when you Smile (Prather). Also in the Oklahoma City area, she worked with Painted Sky Opera as Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, Donna Anna cover in Mozart's Don Giovanni, and chorus in Wagner's The Flying Dutchman. Additionally, she had the opportunity to work with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma in their production of McNally's Masterclass, performing the role of Sophie De Palma.
She graduated with her Bachelor of Music in both Vocal Performance and Music Theatre in 2022, studying with Dr. Catherine McDaniel. In her time there, she performed as Amy in Adamo's Little Women, Adele in J. Strauss's Die Fledermaus, and Mrs. Squires in Willson's The Music Man. She was able to travel to Italy with their OperArezzo program, singing in scenes as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così fan Tutte and Bianca in Rossini's Bianca e Falliero. During that time, she also attended the Taos Opera Institute in 2021 and work with Michael Ching on his new opera, RSBE.
As a musical theatre performer, in the Michigan area she has most recently been seen as Antonia in Man of La Mancha with Penny Seats Theatre Co. and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz with The Encore Musical Theatre Co. She has also performed roles such as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, The title role in Cinderella, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Fiona in Shrek.
